A shocking incident has come to light where a woman, allegedly driven into depression after her husband married another woman, ended her life along with her two children. The 29-year-old woman, identified as S. Banoth Shravanti, was found dead at her residence in Hyderabad along with her children, aged 10 and 12.
What is the case?Shravanti had married Boda Praveen 13 years ago. The couple reportedly had frequent disputes over minor issues. Amid ongoing tensions, Praveen married another woman. Following this, Shravanti left her husband’s house and moved to her parents’ home in Warangal with her two children. However, after persuasion from family elders, she returned to Praveen’s house in Hyderabad on Monday night.
What happened on the day?On Tuesday afternoon around 1:30 pm, Praveen returned home from work and found the main door locked from inside. Despite repeated knocking, there was no response. With the help of neighbours, he broke open the door and entered, only to discover a horrifying scene—Shravanti and both children were found dead. Police were informed around 2:30 pm, and a team reached the spot, said Balanagar ACP P. Naresh Reddy.
The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide by the woman, while the exact cause of the children’s deaths will be confirmed after the autopsy report. According to police, the children were found hanging along with their mother. However, it is also being investigated whether the children were killed before the woman took the extreme step.
Kukatpally DCP Riti Raj stated that a case will be registered against the husband, Praveen, under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abetment of suicide. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and the circumstances that led Shravanti to take this drastic step.
