Chennai, Aug 11 A total of 6,005 Covid-19 recovered patients were discharged from various hospitals in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday while 5,834 persons tested positive for the virus over the past 24 hours, said the State Health Department.

In a statement issued here the department said 6,005 Covid-19 recovered patients were discharged from different hospitals in the state taking the tally to 250,680.

The total number of persons who tested positive for coronavirus went up by 5,834 to 308,649.

The number of active Covid-19 cases in the state after taking into account the cured and dead stands at 52,810.

The state recorded the death of 118 Covid-19 patients taking the total tally till date to 5,159.

The number of infected children in the state in the age group 0-12 went up to 15,113.

The state capital Chennai continued to head the Covid-19 infection table with 986 persons testing positive for the virus and the total tally stands at 111,054. The active cases in the city stand at 11,130 while the total number of Covid-19 patients discharged in Chennai stood at 1,108.
