Chennai, April 16 With just a week remaining for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, political parties across the state have intensified their campaign efforts, rolling out voter outreach programmes and releasing their election manifestos packed with promises.

Major players such as the DMK and the AIADMK have already unveiled their manifestos, seeking to attract voters with a range of welfare and development commitments.

Amid this heightened political activity, actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to release the much-anticipated election manifesto of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The manifesto launch event will be held at a star hotel in Nungambakkam, Chennai, marking a significant moment in the party’s electoral campaign.

According to a statement issued by the party leadership, Vijay will unveil the “visionary election manifesto” for the people of Tamil Nadu during an executive committee meeting scheduled at 3 p.m. at the Taj Coromandel hotel on Nungambakkam High Road.

The event is expected to be a closed-door gathering, with permission granted by the Election Commission for only 800 party workers to attend. The party has made it clear that entry will be strictly regulated, with access limited to those holding QR code-based entry passes issued exclusively to authorised executives.

No other attendees will be permitted at the venue in compliance with election-related guidelines and crowd control measures.

Vijay, who has emerged as a key new entrant in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, has already announced several populist promises during his campaign tours across the state. These include proposals such as waiving off certain categories of loans, providing a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 to heads of families, and offering six free LPG cylinders annually per household.

With expectations running high, the manifesto to be unveiled on Thursday is likely to include a broader set of welfare schemes and policy initiatives aimed at appealing to a wide spectrum of voters, particularly the youth and middle-class segments.

As the countdown to polling day continues, all eyes will be on Vijay’s manifesto to see how the TVK positions itself against established Dravidian parties in what is shaping up to be a closely watched electoral contest.
