Ujjain, April 4 In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics activity, Chimanganj police have uncovered an operation involving chemicals allegedly used for manufacturing MDMA at a garage in Ujjain. Three persons were arrested and 75 kg of bronopol crystal powder, along with other chemicals and Rs 8.5 lakh in cash, were seized.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a police team raided Krishna Motors garage located on Agar Road. The raid led to the recovery of large quantities of chemicals suspected to be used in the production of synthetic narcotic substances, commonly referred to as MD drugs.

During the operation, police seized 75 kg of bronopol crystal powder, identified as a precursor chemical. The three accused arrested from the spot have been identified as Arpit alias Saurabh Gupta, a resident of Tirupati Dham Extension; Ranjit from Mandsaur; and Omprakash Sharma from Barod.

Police officials said that apart from the chemical powder, Rs 8.5 lakh in cash and a car were also recovered from the premises. The accused have been taken into police remand and are being interrogated to uncover further details of the network, including possible suppliers and distribution channels.

Officials said the garage was allegedly being used to conceal and process banned substances. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were involved in the illegal trade of chemicals used for manufacturing synthetic drugs.

Police described the seizure as a major success in efforts to curb the supply of raw materials for narcotics in the region. Further revelations are expected as interrogation continues, with officials anticipating more leads on a larger drug racket operating in Madhya Pradesh.

The latest bust comes amid growing concerns over synthetic drug manufacturing in parts of the state. Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-narcotics operations and dismantling supply chains linked to the illegal drug trade.

The accused are likely to face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police have appealed to the public to share information related to drug activities to help maintain law and order in Ujjain.
