New Delhi, July 18 An undertrial who was lodged in Tihar jail after he was arrested for murdering his mother-in-law in Delhi's Dwarka committed suicide in his cell on Friday night.

Ravi, a resident of Delhi's Mohan Garden, was lodged in the jail on Thursday for allegedly murdering his mother-in-law with an ice pick on suspicion that she was behind his wife's decision to abandon him.

He also attacked those who tried to save her.

The 62-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital but she succumbed to her injuries.

"The man hanged himself with a bed sheet inside his cell," said Rajkumar, PRO Tihar Prison.
