Aditi Singh is an MLA from Rae Bareli, a parliamentary seat represented by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and is also the first Congress leader from Uttar Pradesh to support the Modi government on the issue.

"I am in absolute support of the decision," Aditi Singh told a news agency on Tuesday.

Terming the Modi government's move as 'historic', she said that the decision will help the integration of Jammu and Kashmir into the mainstream.

"It will help in integrating Jammu and Kashmir into the mainstream. It is undoubtedly a historic decision," she said.

On Monday, Aditi Singh had tweeted, "United we stand! Jai Hind".

Aditi Singh's support to the Modi government on the issue has angered senior Congress leaders.

A veteran leader said, "It is leaders like Aditi Singh who cause damage to the party. She owes her political existence to the Congress and then goes against the party line."

In a big triumph for the government, the Rajya Sabha on Monday passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019 and adopted the resolution to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution, paving way for bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories (UTs) Jammu and Kashmir with an Assembly and Ladakh sans one.
