UP Health Minister tests negative for coronavirus

Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh, who had attended a party where coronavirus-positive singer Kanika Kapoor was also present, has tested negative for the virus that has sparked a scare in UP capital city Lucknow.

Lucknow, March 21 Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh, who had attended a party where coronavirus-positive singer Kanika Kapoor was also present, has tested negative for the virus that has sparked a scare in UP capital city Lucknow.

Singh will remain in isolation for the next 14 days. All 10 people in his house have also been asked to stay in isolation.

Lucknow CMO Narendra Agarwal said samples of 30 people including Singh were taken on Friday evening and the investigation report of the minister came negative. He said 15 more samples were taken and they all turned negative as well.

The reports of all 45 people whose samples were taken on Friday night at King George's Medical University to check for coronavirus infection have been negative, he said.

The Health Minister said: "I am fully fit and all right. For the time being, as per the opinion of the doctors, I will remain in isolation."

It may be noted that Singh had attended a party in presence of Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor who is tested coronavirus positive. He also participated in many programmes of the government, in which other ministers and officials were present along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. During this time, protocols were issued to fully control coronavirus infection.

He then held a press conference in Gautam Buddh Nagar, where Noida MLA Pankaj Singh was also present.

Everyone has kept themselves in isolation. Gautam Buddh district administration is keeping an eye on all those who were present in that programme.
