In an unexpected turn of events a 23-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh climbed a mobile tower, demanding to marry his maternal cousin. Accused identified as Raju Pal, who was in one-sided love with the woman, was not ready to take no for an answer. However, unlike man was taken into custody.
On Monday in Kachhiyani Khera village, UP, under the Tilhar police station limits, Pal threatened to jump from a tower, drawing a large crowd. Police told PTI on Tuesday that Pal, claiming an eight-year relationship with the woman, demanded marriage to prevent the jump. The 23-year-old's earlier proposals to marry the woman had been met with strong rejections by her family, while his family members too refused to support him.
Following the repeated refusals, Pal decided to climb the mobile tower, triggering panic among the residents of the village, according to PTI. After Pal's threats, police were called to the scene. A team responded to the information and attempted to persuade Pal to climb down.
After seven hours, Pal was convinced to come down, according to Tilhar circle officer Jyoti Yadav, who also stated Pal's family had no knowledge of his plan.Tilhar Station House Officer Jugal Kishore informed PTI that Pal is in police custody, under observation, and receiving counseling to prevent future incidents.
