A 27-year-old woman lost her life in a tragic incident in the Baberu region of Banda district, Uttar Pradesh, while allegedly trying to create content for social media. The woman, identified as Mohini from Karuiya Purwa village, was reportedly alone at home on Friday afternoon when the incident occurred. Police said she was attempting to film a dramatic sequence involving a rope for a short video when the situation went horribly wrong. What was meant to be a staged act turned fatal after the rope tightened unexpectedly around her neck, leading to her death inside the house.

According to Baberu Station House Officer Rajendra Singh Rajawat, Mohini’s husband Jagdish Singh later submitted a written statement to the police describing the cause of death as unclear. However, the couple’s minor daughter informed investigators that her mother had been recording a video involving a rope. Local sources said Mohini had tied the rope to a hook fixed in the ceiling and positioned her mobile phone to capture the act. During the filming, the knot or loop reportedly slipped, causing accidental strangulation and leaving her helpless.

The incident came to light when the couple’s five-year-old daughter entered the room and saw her mother hanging from the ceiling. Her cries alerted neighbours, who rushed to the house and immediately informed the police. A forensic team examined the scene and collected evidence, while the body was sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. Though neighbours and family members told police that Mohini was very focused on making social media reels, officials said they are investigating cautiously to rule out any wrongdoing. Mohini is survived by her husband, a son, and a daughter.
