Veer Soren, the 19-year-old grandson of former Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren and son of Babulal Soren, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, on Tuesday, February 24. He reached Manali on February 22 and stayed at a homestay in Simsa near Manali.

Veer and his friends visited Solang Valley and Sethan villages on the Hamta Pass route on February 23 and returned to the homestay in the evening. The next day (February 24), Veer stayed back in his room while his other friends went out. 

When the friends returned, Veer told them that he was experiencing a severe headache, a police officer told The Times of India. Friends gave him medicine and after taking it, he went to sleep. At around 2.30 pm, his friends heard the sound of Veer falling from the bed onto the floor.

Friends rushed to him and found him unconscious, lying on the floor with foam forming around his mouth, said the officer. They rushed him to a government hospital in Manal,i where doctors gave him CPR, but he was declared dead after efforts.

Manali DSP said that the cause of death would become known only after the postmortem report comes. However, according to a senior police officer, the cause of death could be related to high altitude sickness.
