The seers would assemble here on December 13 for the annual Dharmacharya Sammelan being organised by the South Bengal State Margdarshak Mandali of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP).

The daylong event at the Bagbazar Gaudiya Mission is being held against the backdrop of the Supreme Court's historic verdict on the long pending Ayodhya title dispute, giving 2.77 acre of disputed land to the Hindus for building the Ram temple.

"The verdict has sent out positive vibes across the country and sparked celebrations among the people. The meeting will deliberate on the conducive atmosphere prevailing in India in the aftermath of the verdict," a state VHP spokesperson told .

Invites have been sent out to over 300 seers and Hindu religious leaders, he said.

The conference will also discuss the social situation in Bengal and the "attacks" on Hindu religious institutions and leaders.

"The properties of Hindus are being illegally occupied and purchased, particularly in the border areas," the spokesperson claimed.

The participants would deliberate on ways to protect the religion and prepare a roadmap for the future.

Ashokji Tiwari, VHP's all-India Dharmacharya Sampark Pramukh, will be a special guest at the conference.

On reports doing the rounds in a section of media terming the conference in Kolkata as an initiative to pave the way for the BJP in next year's municipal polls, the spokesperson said, "This is not right. VHP doesn't have any link with politics of any kind."
