New Delhi, Feb 19 After initial disenchantment with the formation of the Ram Temple trust, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Wednesday warmly welcomed the induction of Nritya Gopal Das and VHP's Champat Rai into the trust.

VHP's international working President Alok Kumar said, "We welcome the appointment of mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Champat Rai and Govind Dev Giri as President, Secretary General and Treasurer, respectively, of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. We believe the temple construction would begin soon."

VHP has been in the forefront of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, particularly in the '90s when multiple Kar sevas took place. But there was no representation of VHP in the trust before.

Earlier, Ayodhya seers were also agitated over the exclusion of Nritya Gopal Das from the trust after which Union Home Minister Amit Shah stepped in to pacify the sants.

The first meeting of the Ram Temple trust was held on Wednesday at the residence of K. Parasaran, the head of the trust.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on February 5 announced the formation of the 15-member trust in the Parliament. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust has seven members, five nominated members and three trustees.
