New Delhi, March 6 Vishwa Hindu Parishad international working president Alok Kumar met the riot-affected families in northeast Delhi and offered financial assistance. However, his offer seems to be exclusively religion-specific.

Speaking to , Kumar said, "We along with few other Hindu organisations have already offered financial assistance to a few." On being asked whether any of the beneficiaries so far have been from the minority community, he answered in the negative.

Following his day-long visit, Kumar told the media, "I met the families of those killed, injured or devastated in the violence-torn areas of Delhi, throughout the day. The young and the poor have been most affected. Their families are going through hardships."

He added that the VHP will help them financially as well as rehabilitate them. Taking a subtle dig at the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government, the VHP leader said, "Hope the Delhi government also comes forward as a neutral player."

Kumar told : "It's heartbreaking to witness their plight. The young, migrants are affected. I met three women who lost their husbands. They were the sole breadwinners for their families."

Earlier on Thursday, BJP's Manoj Tiwari too had said that the party will "take care" of the riot victims. BJP has also formed a probe and rehabilitation team. He also added that the needy will be provided all kinds of rations in their hour of need.
