Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi on Monday criticised the BJP-led central government, alleging that the promised Rs 2,500 financial assistance for women had not been delivered and expressed hope that the ruling party would fulfil its commitments during the Budget Session, which begins today.

While talking to media Atishi said, "The budget session is starting today, and we hope that the Bharatiya Janata Party will fulfill the promises it made to the people of Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had said that by March 8, every woman in Delhi would receive ₹2,500 in their account. March 8 has come and gone, but forget about receiving the money—registration for the scheme has not even started yet. With this first broken promise, the BJP has already deceived the women of Delhi. We hope that this budget will not bring more betrayal to the people of Delhi. As a responsible opposition, we will ensure that the BJP is held accountable and that they fulfill the promises they made"

The Budget Session is a crucial period in the legislative calendar, during which key financial and policy matters will be discussed and decided upon. The session is tentatively scheduled to run from March 24 to March 28, 2025, with provisions for extension if required.
