A clash broke out between members of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad and All India Democratic Students' Organisation (AIDSO) workers on Monday, March 3 in Siliguri, during a students' strike called by SFI in all universities across West Bengal.  The strike is called against the recent Jadavpur University incident. The incident took place at Siliguri's Bagajatin Park area, where AIDSO protesters allegedly blocked a bus from North Bengal University as part of the protest.

AIDSO worker Dr Shahriar Alam said, "TMCP goons came here and attacked the students. We want the protest to go on peacefully. There will be no disturbance to Class 12 State Board examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary examinations (WBCHSE) ."

Ealier, a violent protest was held against State Education Minister Bratya Basu at Jadavpur University (JU) in Kolkata on Saturday, sevens FIRs were filed on Sunday at the local police station in connection with the incident and a former JU student was arrested in connection with a an arson incident later on Saturday.

Basu was allegedly heckled and his vehicle gheraoed and vandalised by students during a protest that erupted during Basu’s visit to the Jadavpur University (JU) in Kolkata on Saturday. The protesters, however, alleged that some students among them were injured after being hit by the minister’s convoy on the campus.
