West Bengal Rain Forecast: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly as Thunderstorm and Rainfall Likely Today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several districts of West Bengal for Saturday, March 22. The weather department predicted thunderstorms and rainfall in Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly today in the next two to three hours from 8.30 am. 

As per the IMD forecast, parts of Odisha and Jharkhand will witness severe weather from March 21 to 23. Kolkata is likely to be hit by hailstorms, lightning, and winds with speeds reaching up to 50-60 kmph. The intensity of the weather is expected to increase on March 22, with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph and lightning and hailstorms predicted in isolated locations across Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bengal.

IMD Weather Forecast

IMD advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea, as rough conditions are likely today. On March 23, similar conditions are expected to persist across parts of Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
