Agra, Feb 24 US President Donald Trump, who is on a two-day state visit to India, on Monday visited the Taj Mahal here and wrote in the visitor's book that the "Taj Mahal inspires awe, a timeless testament to the rich and diverse beauty of Indian culture! Thank you, India".
Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz. Built in 1632-53, it has become a symbol of love. Many poets have written about its beauty and memories.
Shakeel Badayuni wrote: "ek shahanshah ne banwa ke haseen Taj Mahal/saari duniya ko mohabbat ki nishani di hai/is ke saaye mein sada pyar ke charche honge/khatm jo ho na sakegi wo kahani di hai."
Saghar Azmi said: "tumse milti-julti main awaz kahan se launga/Taj Mahal ban jaye magar Mumtaz kahan se launga."
Jameel Malik has written: "kitne haathon ne tarashe ye haseen Taj Mahal/jhankte hai dar-o-deewar se kya kya chehre."
"Taj tere liye ek mazhar-ae-ulfat hi sahi/tujh ko is vaadi-ae-rango se akeedat hi sahi/meri mahboob kahin aur mila kar mujhse/bajm-ae-shahi mein gareebon ka guzar kya maani," said Sahir Ludhianvi.
Whereas, Amjad Hussain Hafiz Karnataki said: "hai kinare ye jamuna ke ek shahakar/dekhna chandni mein tum iski bahar/yaad-e-Mumtaz mein ye banaya gaya/sang-e-marmar se is ko tarasha gaya/Shahjahan ne banaya bade shauk se/barson is ko sajaya bade shauk se/haan ye Bharat ke mahallat ka Taj hai/sab ke dil pe is ka sada raj hai."
Describing the beauty of the Taj Mahal, Mahshar Badayuni said: "Allah mein ye Taj Mahal dekh raha hoon/ya pahlu-e-jamuna mein kanwal dekh raha hoon/ye sham ki zulfon mein simatte hue anwar firdau-e-nazar Taj Mahal ke dar-o-deewar."
Parveen Shakir wrote: "sang-e-marmar ki khunuk baahon mein/husn-e-khwabeeda ke aage meri aankhein shal hain/gung sadiyon ke tanajur mein koi bolta/waqt jazbe ke taraju pe jar-o-seem-o-jawahir ki tadap taulta hai."
Kaifi Azmi also wrote on the beauty of the historic monument. He wrote: "ye dhadakta hua gumbad mein dil-e-Shahjahan/ye do-o-baam pe hansta hua malika ka shabab/jagmagata hai har ek tah se majak-e-tafreek/aur tareekh udhati hai mohabbatki naqab/chandni aur ye mahal aalam-e-hairat ki kasam/doodh ki nahar mein jis tarah ubaal aa jaye/aisi sayyah ki nazaron mein khupe kya ye samaa jis ko farhad ki kismat ka khayal aa jaye."
Famous poet Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan 'Agyeya' wrote a poem on Taj Mahal titled "Taj Mahal ki chaya mein" where he wrote: "hum-tum aaj khade hain jo kandhe se kandha milaye/dekh rahe hain deergh yugon se athak paanv failaye/vyakul aatm-nivedan-sa ya divya kalpana-pakshi kyon na hamara hriday aaj gaurav se umda jaaye."
