While the country is still battling covid pandemic, now the emergence of black and white fungus cases has also raised concerns. A rare case of white fungus has come to light in the capital Delhi. It has been found that the fungus has caused holes in a woman's intestines. This is case is "first of its kind" in the world. Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi has given information in this regard.

A 49-year-old woman was rushed to Sir Gangaram Hospital on May 13, 2021, the hospital said. At that time, the woman complained of stomach ache. She also suffered from vomiting and constipation. The woman was also suffering from cancer and had undergone chemotherapy a few days back.

The woman underwent a CT scan at the hospital. The doctors found holes in her intestines. The woman then underwent four hours of surgery. The woman's esophagus, small intestine and large intestine were closed.

Dr Anil Arora, Chairman of the Institute of Liver, hospital said, “White fungus (Candida) causing multifocal perforations in the food pipe, small bowel and large bowel in COVID-19 infection has not been reported in the literature to the best of our knowledge." "The cases of black fungus causing holes in the intestine due to excessive use of steroids were reported recently," he said.
