Navi Mumbai– In a major crackdown on industrial pollution, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has sealed 15 companies in the Taloja Industrial Area while issuing notices to 200 others for violating pollution control norms. The action follows directives from MLA Prashant Thakur, who has been actively addressing concerns over rising pollution in the region.

Citizens Raise Alarm Over Pollution

On February 12, environmental activists from Taloja, Kharghar, Roadpali, and Kalamboli—including Deepak Singh, Latish Shah, Dr. Basutkar, and Bhavna Gupta—met with MLA Prashant Thakur to highlight the increasing air and water pollution affecting residents. Responding swiftly, Thakur contacted the pollution control authorities and called for an urgent review meeting on February 17.

During the meeting, officials from MPCB provided an update on the enforcement measures taken to curb pollution in the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) area. Taloja Industrial Area Divisional Officer Satish Padwal confirmed that 15 companies were sealed immediately, and 200 others were served notices.

MLA Thakur stressed the need for stricter enforcement, stating that merely issuing notices was insufficient. He urged authorities to take concrete action against companies violating environmental norms.

Call for Sustainable Industrial Practices

The latest crackdown underscores the growing concerns over industrial pollution in Navi Mumbai. Residents and activists continue to demand stringent measures to ensure industries comply with environmental regulations, promoting sustainable industrial practices in the region.
