The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has launched a firm crackdown on the unauthorized dumping of construction debris on lands that are either acquired or under acquisition by the corporation. Officials have noted that large quantities of debris are being illegally dumped by dumper drivers, raising serious concerns about public health and environmental damage.

To curb this illegal activity, a special operation was carried out on April 9, 2025, under the leadership of CIDCO’s Chief Vigilance Officer. The coordinated effort involved personnel from the vigilance inspection unit, the security and engineering departments, and the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police. Around 5:00 p.m., three dumpers carrying foul-smelling and hazardous debris were intercepted near the Vashi Overbridge at the Vashi Traffic Division.

The drivers were identified as Sufiyan Shamsher, 32, a native of Bhagalpur in Bihar and currently residing near Papadipada RF Camp in Taloja; Mohammad Firdos Mohammad Ismail, 32, also from Bhagalpur, Bihar, and residing in the same area; and Mubarak Ali Musibal Ali Bagwan, 33, originally from Uttar Pradesh and now living in Govandi, Mumbai. These drivers were apprehended while attempting to dump debris transported from Mumbai into sensitive zones, including the Navi Mumbai International Airport area and the Ulwe-Jasai CIDCO zone.

Following the incident, a case was registered at the Vashi Police Station. In response, CIDCO has appealed to the public to report any instances of unauthorized debris dumping in CIDCO-managed areas. Complaints can be submitted through the official CIDCO website at www.cidco.maharashtra.gov.in or by contacting the local police station.
