Navi Mumbai: The Onion-Potato Market Committee has announced that the market premises will remain closed on the day following the sighting of the crescent moon for Eid al-Fitr celebrations. This decision was made in a joint meeting with the market's control committee.

As per tradition, Eid al-Fitr is observed a day after the crescent moon is sighted, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Traders and stakeholders are advised to take note of this closure and plan their business activities accordingly.

Eid 2025 Date: Awaiting Moon Sighting

According to the central government's gazetted holiday calendar, Eid 2025 is likely to be celebrated on March 31 (Monday). However, the actual date will depend on the sighting of the crescent moon.

Why is the Crescent Moon Important for Eid?

The Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, which determines the precise date of Eid al-Fitr. If the moon is sighted on March 30, Eid will be observed on March 31. If the moon is visible on March 31, then the festival will be celebrated on April 1.

Traders and market stakeholders are encouraged to stay updated on moon sighting announcements for final confirmation of the holiday.
