International Women’s Day 2025: Over 2,200 Women Participate in Mini Marathon for a Cleaner Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: More than 2,200 women from various age groups took part in a Women's Mini Marathon on International Women's Day 2025, promoting the message of a clean and healthy Navi Mumbai. The event, organized by Dr. D.Y. Patil University group, was held in collaboration with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).

The marathon, themed “Run for Clean Navi Mumbai”. Recognizing the event’s importance in spreading awareness about cleanliness, the NMMC extended its support, with Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde approving the initiative. The event was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar and Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management Dr. Ajay Gadade.

The marathon was flagged off from the main entrance of Dr. D.Y. Patil Stadium, located on the Sion-Panvel Highway, by Arjuna Award-winning athlete and NMMC Deputy Commissioner of Sports, Abhilasha Mhatre Patil.

In a competitive yet spirited race, Damini Pednekar claimed first place, followed by Pratima Nasratna in second and Sujata Mane in third.

The 5-km marathon, held under the “Ghe Bharari” (Take Flight) initiative, witnessed enthusiastic participation, reinforcing the significance of cleanliness, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle in Navi Mumbai.
