There is now much better connectivity between Mumbai and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) thanks to the recently opened Atal Setu bridge. As the Navi Mumbai International Airport is working to improve connectivity across India as it gets ready for its June grand launch, CIDCO is working on improving land connectivity of this airport and the city. By constructing a dedicated 26-kilometer route from Thane to NMIA, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is taking yet another significant step to improve accessibility. The goal of CIDCO is to guarantee easy access and lessen traffic congestion.
CIDCO is currently developing comprehensive plans for this elevated corridor, which will give commuters a smooth and traffic-free travel experience. Starting from Dhan Nirankari Chowk close to Patni Maidan in Digha, the proposed corridor would run parallel to Thane-Belapur Road for 17 kilometres to Vashi. A smooth journey will be ensured by the double-decker elevated road that will cover the final 9 km from Vashi to NMIA. The company has already hired a financial advisor. The estimated cost of the 26-kilometer corridor is Rs 8,000 crore. A schedule for the project's start and completion is not practical, according to CIDCO representatives, because of the project's scale, the need to acquire approvals, acquire land, and secure environmental clearances.

The road's second phase passes through ecologically sensitive areas, such as mangroves and coastal control zones, whereas the first section, which runs from Patni Chowk to Vashi, is anticipated to encounter few environmental obstacles. Cidco will therefore need several environmental permissions before building can start.
To make NMIA more accessible, CIDCO has proposed a number of highways and bridges in addition to the elevated route. The forest department authorised the transfer of 4,859 square meters of land close to Ulwe and Sonkhar creeks on March 25. By eliminating an existing bridge over the Ulwe River, this will enable the construction of a bridge, fortifying access to the airport.
NMIA is positioned to develop into a well-connected aviation hub with these ambitious projects underway, cutting down on travel time and traffic for commuters from Thane and Mumbai. Travellers from Thane currently use Palm Beach Road and Thane-Belapur Road, both of which are quite congested, to go to NMIA. This new route will offer a quicker and continuous substitute.
