Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra (April 15, 2025): An eight-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a speeding trailer while crossing the road near the pre-gate signal of JNPT in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday. The child suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.

The deceased girl has been identified as Jyoti Bhagwat Shinde. She lived with her parents and two younger brothers in a slum near Nagara Phata in Uran. On the day of the accident, Jyoti was walking with her mother and two brothers towards their home near Wadghar Phata when the incident occurred.

As they were crossing the road near the JNPT pre-gate signal, a speeding trailer struck Jyoti. The impact left her critically injured, and she succumbed to her injuries immediately.

Nhava Sheva police have registered a case against the trailer driver and arrested him. The driver was reportedly heading from JNPT towards Panvel when the accident took place.

Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
