Belapur: In a major crackdown on drug-related crimes, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Navi Mumbai Police arrested four individuals, including a minor, for drug possession and promoting narcotics on social media. The suspects had allegedly consumed narcotics and posted a video on Instagram encouraging drug use. Police also recovered 18 grams of heroin worth Rs 5,40,000 from them.

Taking serious note of the incident, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Economic Offenses Wing) Bhausaheb Dhole directed Police Inspector Sandeep Nigde to investigate and take action against the individuals. Acting on a tip-off, the police learned that the suspects were planning to sell heroin at Panchshil Nagar, Belapur, on March 6. A team led by PI Sandeep Nigde set up a trap and successfully apprehended them at 5:00 PM.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Santosh Dinesh Kamble, 22, Salman Salim Daula, 29, Sunny Dinesh Kamble, 24, and a minor accused. All four are residents of Belapur. During the raid, police recovered 18 grams of heroin, which was allegedly being held for illegal sale and consumption.

A case has been registered at the NRI Sagari Police Station under Sections 8(c), 21(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. The accused were arrested in the early hours of March 7, 2025, and have been remanded to police custody until March 11 for further investigation.

Navi Mumbai Police have reiterated their commitment to making the city drug-free and warned of strict action against those involved in drug trafficking and promotion.
