Navi Mumbai: Panic spread in Sanpada on Monday night after police received a shocking report — a human hand was allegedly seen protruding from the trunk of a white colour car, raising fears of a possible crime.

The incident was reported around 8:45 PM, prompting swift action by the Sanpada Police. Police officials located and intercepted the vehicle, a white colour car, within their jurisdiction. On thorough inspection and questioning of the occupants, the real story emerged — it was all part of a staged stunt.

The car’s occupants, identified as Meenhaj Mohammad Amin Sheikh (25), Shahawar Tariq Sheikh (24), Mohammad Anas Ahmad Sheikh (30), and Inzamam Akhtar Raza Sheikh, all residents of Koparkhairane and Mira Road, confessed that the alarming scene was created intentionally as part of a video shoot aimed at promoting laptop sales via social media.

The police, however, did not take the matter lightly. The car’s driver was booked under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act for driving recklessly and dangerously on public roads. Authorities have issued a warning against such publicity stunts that can cause public panic and waste critical police resources.

Sanpada Police are now considering whether further action should be taken under public nuisance or cyber laws for misuse of digital platforms.
