The much-awaited Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is scheduled to open on April 17, 2025, giving frequent travellers from Mumbai another airport choice. On the same day that the airport opens, Noida International Airport will also be inaugurated.

An important turning point in the development of NMIA was reached on December 29, 2024, when an IndiGo A320 aircraft made a successful landing on the recently built 08/26 runway, according to an ET Now report. Domestic flights should start in late May, and international flights by July, after a four-week security and procedural assessment that follows the inauguration. By December 2025, the airport will have grown to accommodate 20 million passengers, up from its initial capacity of 8–10 million.

Alongside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), NMIA, situated in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai, would serve as the second airport in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Additionally, the government of Uttar Pradesh has announced intentions to build a 76-kilometer highway that will connect the Ganga Expressway and Jewar Airport immediately. The objective of this project is to drastically cut down on travel time and enhance regional connectivity. The government has set aside Rs. 1,000 crore for the construction of this highway. The new road will start in Bulandshahr and go around 24 kilometres before joining the Yamuna Expressway. The project is expected to cost Rs. 4,415 crore in total.
