Mumbai: Tension escalated between Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde workers in Nerul. This clash began after the announcement of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election 2026 result, leading to vandalization of a Shiv Sena office. According to police sources, the confrontation broke out soon after results. What began as verbal altercations quickly turned violent.
According to midday reports, the during argument, Shiv Sena office was vandalised. Video shared by channel shows crowd was celebrating the win at Shiv Sena office in Nerul, when sudden fight broke out.
Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the BJP–Shiv Sena-led Mahayuti’s strong performance in the civic elections was due to its focus on development. He said the alliance will form mayors in 25 of the 29 municipal corporations in the state. Addressing party workers at the BJP office in Mumbai, Mr. Fadnavis paid tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Dr B.R. Ambedkar and Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the alliance’s success in the local body polls.
