Navi Mumbai – The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has demolished an unauthorised G+3 RCC structure in Sector 8, Nerul after the owner failed to comply with prior notices issued under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MR&TP) Act regarding illegal construction.

The Encroachment Department took action against the structure, which was being built illegally by Ananda Shelar, despite a notice being served on March 10, 2025, under Section 54 of the MR&TP Act, 1966.

The demolition was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Jayant Jawadekar and Junior Engineer Sanjay Sontakke, with the assistance of encroachment department staff, 10 laborers, 2 gas cutters, 2 breakers, and 4 sledgehammers, as well as security personnel and a police squad.

The NMMC has reiterated its commitment to strict action against unauthorized constructions across the city to ensure compliance with urban planning regulations.
