Navi Mumbai: In compliance with the directives issued by the Bombay High Court in Public Interest Litigations (PIL) No. 111/2022 and 209/2023, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has initiated a large-scale survey of unauthorised constructions across its jurisdiction. A crucial planning meeting was held at the NMMC headquarters under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde to strategize the execution of this survey.

According to the directives, the survey must be completed within four months. The municipal administration will conduct a node-wise inspection, prepare detailed reports, issue notices to concerned parties, conduct hearings, and take necessary legal action against unauthorized constructions.

Dr. Shinde instructed all departments to strictly adhere to the Supreme Court’s guidelines issued in its judgment dated November 13, 2024, while carrying out the process. The drive aims to curb illegal developments and ensure urban planning compliance across Navi Mumbai.

The civic administration has urged citizens to cooperate with the survey teams and report any unauthorized constructions in their vicinity. The NMMC plans to take strict action against violators to maintain the integrity of the city’s infrastructure and planning regulations.

The meeting saw the participation of key officials, including Deputy Commissioner of the Encroachment Department Bhagwat Doiphode, Assistant Director of Town Planning, and representatives from CIDCO, MIDC, the District Collector's office, the Forest Department, the Mangrove Protection Branch, and the Navi Mumbai Police.
