Vashi—A high-intensity police chase unfolded early Monday as officers pursued three burglary suspects through the streets of Vashi, culminating in a dramatic escape into the mangroves near Mini Seashore. The operation, which began around 6:30 AM, led to the capture of one suspect, while the search for the other two continues.

According to the Crime Branch Unit 2, the suspects were involved in multiple burglaries and other crimes in the Panvel region. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Umesh Gawli located the suspects in a vehicle in Vashi. Upon realising they were being followed, the suspects attempted to flee, the first heading toward Sagar Vihar and then diverting toward a nursery in Sector 8. However, an unexpected roadblock and a broken steering rod forced them to abandon their vehicle. The trio then disappeared into the thick mangroves, prompting an immediate police search.

Authorities deployed drone cameras and a canine squad to track the suspects, but the dense foliage made the operation challenging. Despite these hurdles, officers managed to capture one suspect around 7 AM.

"The search operation is still underway, and we are determined to apprehend the remaining two suspects soon," police officials stated.

Further updates on the ongoing operation are expected as authorities intensify their efforts in the region.
