Panvel: With property tax arrears soaring to Rs1,842 crore, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a stringent tax recovery campaign across all wards. The corporation has started issuing pre-seizure notices and warrants to defaulters, signaling tough action against those failing to pay their dues.

PMC officials have identified 447 establishments with significant outstanding property tax, issuing pre-seizure notices to these defaulters, while 27 property owners have already received warrants. In a recent crackdown, authorities seized Walrek Modular Systems in Taloja for Rs 2.20 crore in unpaid taxes.

So far, PMC has collected Rs 326 crore in property tax for this financial year. To accelerate recovery, Deputy Commissioner Swarup Kharge is leading a dedicated enforcement team, including Tax Superintendents Mahesh Gaikwad and Sunil Bhoir. Their focus is on defaulters across Kharghar, Navade, Kalamboli, Kamothe, Panvel, and New Panvel.

Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale has ordered officials to work without leave to ensure effective tax collection. He urged property owners to cooperate and clear their dues, warning that seizure and legal action will follow if payments are not made.

How to Pay Property Tax?

Tax defaulters face a 2% monthly penalty on overdue amounts. To simplify payments, PMC has provided online options via the "PMC TAX APP" mobile application and the official website panvelmc.org. For assistance, taxpayers can contact the toll-free number 18005320340.
