Navi Mumbai: In a tragic road accident a 50-year-old man lost his life and a pillion rider got seriously injured after a speeding scooter rammed into a road divider. This accident occurred on Friday afternoon near Khanda Colony in New Panvel. Following the incident, police have registered a case against the deceased rider for rash and negligent driving. The deceased was identified as Gangaram Thikaram Vishwakarma, a resident of New Panvel, and the injured pillion rider, Ram Bhansing Kami, is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
As per the police reports says, the incident occurred around 2:15 pm when Vishwakarma, riding his Jupiter scooter from Khand Colony towards New Panvel, lost control after descending the Khand Colony flyover. According to FPJ report, approximately 30 meters from the flyover near Sector 7, the scooter crashed into a road divider at high speed. Vishwakarma succumbed to his severe injuries during treatment at the hospital, while Kami remains in critical condition. The accident appears to have resulted from overspeeding and negligent driving.

A Khandeshwar Police Station officer, the rider lost control due to high speed, leading to the fatal crash; further investigation is underway. A case has been registered under Sections 106, 281, and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, and the probe continues.
