The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has presented a Rs 25-crore surplus budget for the financial year 2025-26, reflecting an overall increase of approximately 15%. The civic body has allocated 4.84% of the total budget to healthcare and 3.79% to education.

Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Kailas Shinde presented the budget for 2025-26, with original estimates approved as follows: an opening balance of Rs1,301.04 crore, revenue of Rs 5,709.95 crore, expenditure of Rs 5,684.95 crore, and a closing balance of Rs 25 crore.

The key expenditure allocations include Rs 1,079 crore for civic amenities, Rs544 crore for water supply and sanitation, Rs478 crore for solid waste management, Rs263 crore for healthcare, Rs 270 crore for transportation, and Rs 179 crore for education.

For the 2025-26 fiscal year, the civic body has outlined several key initiatives, including establishing a nursing college, an ayurvedic college, and laboratory facilities for schools. Other proposed developments include tapping new water sources, formulating a parking policy, implementing a city mobility plan, constructing sports complexes, and enhancing connectivity with Navi Mumbai International Airport.
