Panvel: In the past four days, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has seized 25 properties from tax defaulters who failed to pay their dues despite repeated reminders and notices. The action follows the directives of Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale. So far, the total property tax collected this financial year stands at Rs 358 crores.

As part of an intensified recovery drive, PMC’s teams have actively pursued tax defaulters, leading to a surge in collections. In just four days, Rs 6.5 crores have been recovered. Prominent entities, including Bharti Vidyapeeth, United Beverages, Grovel, Western Super Fresh, Glass Tech, Sahara, and Amul, have cleared a significant portion of their outstanding dues.

To further boost recovery efforts, additional manpower and teams have been deployed under the leadership of Tax Officers Mahesh Gaikwad and Sunil Bhoir. The intensified seizure drive has prompted more property owners to clear their dues.

PMC has also introduced the ‘PMC TAX APP’ to facilitate online tax payments. Citizens can pay their property taxes via the official website www.panvelmc.org. For any queries, they can contact the toll-free number 1800-5320-340, as announced by the municipal administration.

Notice to Tax Defaulters:

“Defaulters must clear their property taxes immediately to avoid seizure. Unpaid taxes will incur a 2% penalty per month, and we urge citizens to cooperate by settling their dues promptly,” said Swaroop Kharge, Deputy Commissioner, Panvel Municipal Corporation.
