Washington D.C., March 15 Olympic champion Simone Biles hit back at USA Gymnastics when the latter whished her on birthday on Twitter. Biles turned 23 on Saturday and USAG wished her on the occasion on Twitter.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most decorated gymnast of all time, @simonebiles! We know you will only continue to amaze us and make history!" said their tweet. It is worth noting here that USAG had ended up tagging the wrong handle.

A few hours later however, Biles responded: "how about you amaze me and do the right thing... have an independent investigation."

Biles, who won a record four gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics was referring to the case of former team doctor Larry Nassar, who is serving an effective life sentence since 2018 after more than 150 former and current female athletes accused him of sexually abusing them for decades. Biles is one of several Olympic medallists and athletes who have criticised the USAG's proposed $215 million settlement for the survivors.

The body had filed for bankruptcy in December 2018 a month after the US Olympic Committee began taking steps to revoke its governing body status in the wake of the wide-ranging scandal.
