Paris [France], October 24 : The World No.1 pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty progressed into the men's doubles second round of the French Open with an impressive win over Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar on Tuesday.

The Indian pair registered a 21-13, 21-13 win against home favourites Lucas Corvee and Ronan Lobar in the Super 750 badminton tournament with a straight-game victory.

Satwik and Chirag will next face Indonesia's Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan.

It took only 35 minutes for Satwik and Chirag to go past Lucas and Ronan, who trailed from the outset as Satwik and Chirag dominated the proceedings, leading 11-6 at the half and continuing to move ahead to close the first game.

The second game followed a similar pattern, with Satwik and Chirag jumping out to an 11-6 lead and maintaining their control to secure the deal.

In the women's singles, India's star shuttler PV Sindhu produced a fine came back after being 0-1 down in the first game to defeat Gregoria Mariska Tunjung 12-21, 21-18, 21-15 in the first round of the ongoing French Open 2023.
