New Delhi [India], April 6 : Indian wrestler Geeta Phogat on Monday appealed to the citizens to support the Delhi Police in implementing the lockdown by staying at home to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Phogat urged Delhites to follow social distancing and take proper measures while they go out for essential supplies.

"Due to the coronavirus, everything is under lockdown. So, I appeal you all to support the Delhi Police to make this successful. Stay at home. Step outside only if you have to buy some essential goods or in a medical emergency. Ensure social distancing and wear a mask whenever you go out and also take a healthy diet. We will all together fight against the coronavirus and defeat it by following the lockdown strictly," Phogat said in a video post posted on the Delhi Police's official Twitter handle.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India crossed the 4,000-mark, mounting to 4,067, said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.
