Paris [France], October 25 : Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen both lost their opening-round matches in the French Open Super 750 tournament to exit the tournament on Wednesday.

Srikanth conceded a defeat against France's Toma Junior Popov. He ended the match with a score of 17-21, and 15-21 within 44 minutes. Even though the Indian shuttler had a 3-1 head-to-head advantage, but still the French player still secured a comfortable victory.

On the other hand, Lakshya Sen also suffered a defeat against France's Arnaud Merkle by 15-21, 18-21. Lakshya tried to make a comeback in the second set, but it was not enough to clinch a win against the French player.

Indian shuttler Lakshya previously clinched a win against Merkle in 2016. This marked their first meeting on the BWF World Tour.

Following their early exits in the Denmark Open the previous week, the two Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen entered this tournament.

The World No.1 pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty progressed into the men's doubles second round of the French Open with an impressive win over Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar on Tuesday.

The Indian pair registered a 21-13, 21-13 win against home favourites Lucas Corvee and Ronan Lobar in the Super 750 badminton tournament with a straight-game victory.

It took only 35 minutes for Satwik and Chirag to go past Lucas and Ronan, who trailed from the outset as Satwik and Chirag dominated the proceedings, leading 11-6 at the half and continuing to move ahead to close the first game.

Satwik and Chirag will next face Indonesia's Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan.
