Local golfers steal show on Day 2 of Karnataka Golf Festival

The second day of the 11th Sara Futura Karnataka Golf Festival, presented by Indo-Mim teed off at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) with more than 100 amateur golfers from across the country competing under five different handicap categories with the big prize of being amongst the five winners to represent India at the World Amateur Golf Championship (WAGC) firmly in sight. The WAGC 2019 is scheduled for October in Borneo, Malaysia.

Friday's winners across the five handicap categories were Bengaluru's Vivek NJ Rao in the 16-20 category with 38 points, Bharath Jaganathan in the 11-15 category with 40 points, N.K Lenka in the 6-10 category with 38 points, Sanket Kondur in the 21-24 category with 37 points and Sankeerth N in the 0-5 category with 29 points. Over 500 golfers, including more than 100 outstation golfers from 16 cities and towns of India, are in action at the 11th Sara Futura KGF. Former cricketer, Venkatesh Prasad was one of the notable personalities who played on the second day.

There were several other prizes to be won on the day as well. Sudhanshu Shah (35 pts) in the 21-24 category, Rajesh N Joshi (37 pts) in the 16-20 category, Ramamurthy K (38 pts) in the 11-15 category and Vasant Kumar KS (35 pts) in the 6-10 category along with Rahul Bhalla (25 pts) in the 0-5 category won the runners-up prize in their respective handicap categories. The best gross winner of the day was bagged by N.K. Lenka with 31 points.

Day 3 of the 11th Sara Futura Karnataka Golf Festival will see another set of five winners being declared in five different categories who will compete for a spot to represent India after the end of four days of highly competitive golf action.
