Green tea contains catechins and epigallocatechin gallate and has antioxidant properties. It should be taken twice a day as it can reduce the amount of bad cholesterol in the body.

Include oatmeal in breakfast. Helps reduce high cholesterol levels. The beta-glucan components in it form a gel-like layer in the intestines, which facilitates the absorption of cholesterol.

It is advisable to eat tomatoes in summer as they contain a lot of water. It is a rich source of an antioxidant called lycopene, which protects cells from damage. The fiber in it lowers high cholesterol.

Soy milk is very beneficial for health as it has the ability to regulate cholesterol levels. It must be included in the daily diet. It is low in saturated fat which helps in controlling the level of bad cholesterol.

People with high cholesterol should avoid regular dairy products. Soy milk and yogurt are very good for health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that a daily intake of 25 grams of soy protein may prevent heart problems.
