Government impose 36 hours of lockdown in the Solomon Islands

In the Solomon Islands, in the Pacific Ocean, protesters set fire to a parliament building and a police station. The protesters were demanding the removal of the Prime Minister. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

Protesters looted several shops. Therefore, there is an atmosphere of tension in the country. Prime Minister Manasseh Sogaware, while addressing the nation late on Wednesday, announced a lockdown in the capital.

People from the island of Malta, the most populous country in the country with a group of islands, came to the capital and expressed their anger by raising a number of local issues. They expressed displeasure over the backwardness of the people in the area. Recently, the country has moved closer to China.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force has closed schools around Honiara. It also appeals to people to stay indoors. We are working to ensure that roads, schools and businesses in our area reopen immediately after the lockdown.
