Government impose 36 hours of lockdown in the Solomon Islands

In the Solomon Islands, in the Pacific Ocean, protesters set fire to a parliament building and a police station. The protesters were demanding the removal of the Prime Minister. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force has closed schools around Honiara. It also appeals to people to stay indoors. We are working to ensure that roads, schools and businesses in our area reopen immediately after the lockdown.
