As Eknath Shinde revolt, see five times when powerful leaders left Shiv Sena

In the last 29 years, five big leaders of Shiv Sena have left the party. Four of these incidents took place during the lifetime of Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray.

Shiv Sena has always had a reputation as a party that gives strength to ordinary workers and does not think of caste while giving them opportunities.

In 1991, Chhagan Bhujbal, who was the big leader in Shiv Sena at that time, left the party. In the winter session of Nagpur, Bhujbal joined the Congress with 9 MLAs.

Ganesh Naik, the then powerful leader of the Sena representing the Agari community in Mumbai, led the party to victory in Maharashtra in 1999. After a sharp disagreement with Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray, he raised the flag of rebellion.

In July 2005, senior leader Narayan Rane pushed the Shiv Sena. After the 2004 elections, Uddhav Thackeray defeated Rane and took over the reins. He revolted with 11 supporting MLAs and joined the Congress.

At the end of 2005, Raj Thackeray defeated Shiv Sena. Due to the ambitious struggle between Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, Raj revolted and formed Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. He was accompanied by MLA Bala Nandgaonkar and some other supporters.

Eknath Shinde gave a strong push to Shiv Sena on 21st June 2022 due to his political ambitions, grief of being ousted, displeasure with party chief and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. What they are doing now is the focus of vertical Maharashtra.
