Mumbai Local Trains: All you need to know about the Universal Travel Pass

The Maharashtra government launched an online e-pass facility to enable fully vaccinated citizens to travel in suburban trains in Mumbai from August 15. The online facility has been launched for those who have completed 14 days after second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

'A ‘Universal Travel Pass’ system has been developed to make it possible for citizens to obtain an e-pass conveniently and smoothly,' a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) release said. The weblink -- https://epassmsdma.mahait.org -- has been developed by the Maharashtra government and is now functional on all web browsers.

According to the release, the e-pass should be saved on mobile and, after showing it at the ticket counter at suburban stations, citizens will get a monthly travel pass directly from the railways.

The release also said citizens who apply for an e-pass without completion of 14 days after the second dose of vaccine will receive it only after a stipulated two-week period.

The Maharashtra government and BMC officials have also urged citizens not to swarm at train stations and to complete the verification process in phases, either by approaching railway stations or by using the online process.

Visit the link-- https:// epassmsdma.mahait.org, Click on 'Travel Pass for Vaccinated Citizens', Mention your mobile number used during CoWin registration, An OTP (One Time Password) will be received via text, Enter this OTP. Details like beneficiary name, mobile number, beneficiary reference number, etc. will appear automatically.

Select the 'Generate Pass' option, After selecting, the system will automatically show the information of the applicant including the date of the first and second shot of the Covid-19 vaccine and other relevant details, The eligible citizen should upload their picture in the 'Self Image' option. Pictures can also be uploaded from your cell phone's gallery or a photo can be clicked on the spot using the mobile camera, After the process is completed, a text will appear saying that the applicant will receive a link in 48 hours via SMS, Once you receive the link, the e-pass should be saved in your phone's gallery.

Authorities have also cautioned residents that producing fake or forged certificates will result in severe punishments.
