The Mumbai-Navi Mumbai Sea Bridge, which cost Rs 21,200 crore, is ready for inauguration. The bridge, which connects Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12. After the inauguration by Modi, the bridge will be opened for passengers. This will be a great convenience for Mumbaikars and will save their time and fuel.

The ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu’ in Mumbai is the longest (22 km) bridge built in the sea in the country. The state cabinet has decided to charge a toll of Rs 250 for passenger cars on the bridge. Toll will be collected automatically at the toll plazas on the sea bridge.

It is reported that there will be no boom barrier on the bridge. In this way, Atal Setu will be the first road in the country without a boom barrier for toll collection. The work of building this toll plaza was given to an Australian company.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has decided to charge toll for about 30 years to recover the cost incurred on the project. For this, toll nakas will be constructed at two places, Shivajinagar near Ulwe in Navi Mumbai and Chirle (Ghavan).

After the cabinet decision, the authority has claimed that the toll rate on this route is lower than the toll rates on Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Highway, Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Bandra-Worli Sea Bridge.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be coming to Mumbai tomorrow and the inauguration of this sea bridge will be held.

Key Features- The bridge is 22 kilometers long and consists of a 16.5-kilometer sea section and a 5.5-kilometer land section.The bridge is designed to withstand earthquakes, cyclones, and other natural disasters.The bridge is expected to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai by up to 20 minutes.
