Army seizes 6 pistols, 23 grenades and over 1,200 rounds of ammunition in J&K’s Rampur

'On August 30, our troops along the LoC detected suspicious movement. Search parties were launched on August 31. After 7 hours of search on the same day, we recovered huge quantities of arms, and ammunition in the Rampur sector along the LoC,' Virendra Vats, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 19th Division, Baramulla told .

Colonel Kalia said that a search was started in the area the next morning and after a thorough search for seven hours, a stockpile of weapons and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered. It was recovered from a highly hidden hideout in Rampur sector.

Among the weapons recovered were five AK rifles, six pistols, 21 grenades, two UBGL grenades and two Kenwood radio sets and an antenna.

A terrorist hideout was also traced in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir and a large quantity of arms and ammunition were also seized from there.

The police, army and Border Security Force (BSF) had launched a joint search operation at Kanetar Top after receiving intelligence in this regard, a police official said.

The official said five cartridges and 50 rounds of ammunition along with two Chinese pistols, five AK cartridges and 270 rounds of ammunition, two wireless sets and other weapons including four Chinese grenades were recovered from here. However, no arrests were made during the operation and final reports were received.
