New Motor Vehicle Penalty 2025: Hefty Fines and Jail Period for Traffic Violations

According to the new Motor Vehicle Penalty 2025, if you do not follow the traffic rules, you will be fined heavily. Your driving license and vehicle registration can also be canceled. You can go to jail.

If you have always been breaking traffic rules, then this news is important for you. Now if you do not follow the traffic rules on the road, you will have to pay not three but ten times the fine, because the new Motor Vehicle Penalty 2025 has come into effect from March 1, 2025. Apart from the fine, there is also a provision for imprisonment and community service.

If you are found riding a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet, you will be fined Rs 1000. Along with this, your driving license will also be canceled for three months. Earlier, if you committed this mistake, a fine of Rs 100 was levied. If more than two people are travelling, you will have to pay Rs 1000.

If you are caught driving without wearing a seat belt, a fine of Rs 1000 will be levied. Earlier, there was a provision of Rs 100 for this. On the other hand, if you break the signal, you will have to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 instead of Rs 500.

If someone is talking on the phone while driving, then a fine of Rs 5,000 will be imposed instead of Rs 500. If you drive faster than the prescribed limit and do stunts or drive in a dangerous manner, a fine of Rs 5,000 will be imposed.

If you drive after drinking alcohol, there is a provision of a fine of Rs 10,000 and/or imprisonment for 6 months. If you are caught doing it for the second time, you can be fined up to Rs 15,000 and/or imprisonment for up to 2 years. If you block the way of emergency services like an ambulance, you will have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.

If you do not have a driving license, you will have to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 instead of Rs 500. Also, if you drive without insurance, you can be fined Rs 2,000 and/or imprisoned for three months. If a child is below the age of 18 and is found driving a vehicle, he can be fined Rs 25,000 and imprisoned for 3 years. Along with this, the registration of that vehicle will also be canceled for 1 year. A driving license will not be issued till the age of 25
