NPPA Sets Prices for 100 Drugs Including Diabetes, Cholesterol, Fever, and Infection Medications

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has taken a significant step to curb the black market for medicines by setting prices for 69 formulations. In a recent notification, the NPPA announced reductions in the prices of medications for diabetes, pain relief, fever management, heart conditions, and joint pain. Additionally, approval has been granted for four special feature products as part of this initiative.

NPPA has established the retail prices for 69 new formulations and set ceilings for 31 others. This list encompasses a variety of medications, ranging from anti-toxins to treatments for cholesterol, diabetes, body aches, fever, infections, hypertension, calcium deficiencies, vitamin D3 deficiencies, and antibiotics specifically designed for children.

According to a recent government notification, the revised rates will be applicable to the new packaging of the medications. Additionally, the dealer network is mandated to disseminate information regarding the updated prices to consumers. Moreover, companies are permitted to collect Goods and Services Tax (GST) solely based on the fixed price, provided they have already paid the tax themselves.
