New Delhi: The Prime Minister's Jan Dhan Yojana has completed 7 years. The government's plan is well received by the general public. The number of accounts opened under this scheme has tripled in a few years.

The Department of Financial Services (DFS) tweeted about it. The Prime Minister's Jan Dhan Yojana account has tripled, the tweet said. The number of accounts has increased from 14.72 crores to 43 crores in March 2015.

The world's largest financial inclusion venture has opened the doors of banks to the poor and given them the new power of Jan Dhan account passbook and Rupee card. Under this scheme, after opening an account, everyone will have access to affordable insurance, pension, and other financial products.

Jan Dhan account holders are given a benefit of Rs 2.30 lakh. Accident insurance cover is offered to Jan Dhan account holders when they open an account with any bank. Account-holders are given accident insurance of Rs. 1,00,000 and general insurance of Rs. 30,000.

Under Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana, most of the accounts are opened in public sector banks. But, if you want, you can also open your Jandhan account in a private bank.

Document verification is done under KYC for opening the Jandhan account. Jandhan account can be opened using documents like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Voter Identity Card, Passport, MNREGA Job Card.

Under Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana (PMJDY), more accounts are opened in public sector banks. You can open a Jandhan account in any government bank.

Dhanlaxmi Bank, Yes Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Federal Bank, ING Vaishya, Kotak Mahindra, Karnataka Bank, IndusInd Bank provide Jandhan account opening facilities.
