Finding no alternative, Poonam agreed to undergo the surgery.4 / 7After the operation, she was informed that her hysterectomy or sterilization was also performed after surgery.5 / 7However, Poonam alleged that she did not know about the sterilization and was informed about this only after the operation.6 / 7Poonam alleged that the surgery was conducted without the couple’s consent.7 / 7Meanwhile, Dr Savyasachi Mandal, the Deputy Superintendent of the hospital, denied the charges and said Poonam had approved for sterilization and only then the surgery was performed.
